Wearing a bright lip colour with no mascara or shadows on your eye can also make your eyes look bigger Martin notes. Just be sure to cancel out any uneven tones around the eye first with colour-correcting concealer."

12 Practical Tips On How to Live a Joyful, Happy, Positive & Fulfilled Life.

1. Smile & Laugh. Smiling does wonders! If you want to instantly improve your mood, try smiling and laughing just a little bit – Even if you don’t initially feel like it. You will feel your mood get better, and this gets even more effective the more often you do it. If you’re not used to smiling and laughing, don’t worry, you can learn. Practice and work on laughing at yourself and at situations you encounter. If you make mistakes, learn from them, make amends where necessary, and move on. Don’t underestimate the power of laughter and smiling – They are good medicine for the soul. Practice taking things calmly, try not to let things easily get to you. Are you smiling yet? You can do it… Smile :) !
2. Examine Your Thoughts, Refocus If Necessary. If your thoughts are constantly getting you down in the dumps, try refocusing your thoughts on things that will instead lift your spirits. Make a regular and conscious effort to fill your mind with and to think good thoughts. Remember, “…whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Philippians 4:8 – AKJV).  Being stuck in a destructive cycle of negative thoughts can get your brain forming negative feelings like anger, stress and anxiety; which in turn make you get deeper into negativity. Refocus and reassign that energy to good thoughts, imagery and ultimately feelings instead.
3. Count Your Blessings, Be Thankful & Optimistic. Instead of focusing on the things you don’t have, try to recall and be thankful for the things that you do have. Changing the way you think about and view things or situations can have such a huge positive impact on your life. You can make your life much more enjoyable by choosing to be constantly thankful for the things that bring you joy and happiness – for instance, your relationship with God, a loving and supportive family, wonderful friends, good health, purpose, hopes and dreams, hobbies, a place to live, a job you enjoy, etc. Make the best of what you currently have – always remember that you have something to be thankful for.  And if there are things you desire to change, pray and work with optimism towards them – always one step at a time.
4. Make & Work Towards Goals That Challenge & Excite You. Strive for long term goals or dreams that get you going and give you something to look forward to. Goals that will challenge you and excite you, taking concerted thoughts, time and effort to accomplish. Something that will motivate you towards improving yourself, and that you can take pride and joy in. What do you want out of life? Do you like your current lifestyle? Are there things you would change? What makes you truly happy? How would you like to affect others? Think about it and pursue your dreams, but remember not to neglect important aspects of your life while pursuing those dreams – always try to find the right balance. Then work towards reaching your goals, one step at a time.
5. Don’t Be Forget The Source of Your Joy. Don’t forget that God is the ultimate source of your joy. Don’t make anything or anyone else the source of your joy, otherwise when that thing or person goes away your joy goes with it/them. It’s also very helpful to diversify your interests and activities so one thing does not consume all of your attention and focus. It is healthy to have a few things going on in your lives at once. For instance a career, a relationship, a hobby, an exercise routine, volunteering, time with friends, fellowship, time to learn new things, etc. But don’t forget that God is our ultimate source. “You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.” (Acts 2:28 – NKJV)
6. Put a Smile On Someone’s Face. Do something to make others happy and you will reap the benefits by feeling great too. “And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35 – NKJV). People that are ready to give and give tend to be a lot happier than people that are inconsiderate and selfish. Put a smile on someone’s face. Making other people happy – whether they are strangers or people we care deeply about, can have such an amazing effect on us.
7. Take Time To Be Sad When You Need To Be Sad. Please remember that there is “a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance..” (Ecclesiastes 3:4 -KJV) We can’t be happy all of the time. There are sometimes when we just need to go through certain “down times” – e.g. time to grieve, time to cry, time to heal, or time to express anger, disappointment or whatever “not so happy” emotions we are feeling, however we are able. Life happens. Obstacles & disappointments will sometimes get in our way. Things will seem to come from nowhere. It is all a part of life and it is certainly very healthy to express those emotions (and act constructively on them) when the need arises. If we don’t give our emotions a healthy outlet when we should, we are in danger of “blowing up” somewhere down the line. But the hope and prayer is that overall, we will be joyful in life, always learning valuable lessons when we are up and also when we have setbacks. Our hope, joy and strength comes from God after all, and “because He lives, we can face tomorrow”!
8. Forgive Others & Forgive Yourself. Don’t allow yourself to be overcome by anger, hurt, grudges and revenge against people, life or God. When you release others and let them go, you release yourself to live life to the fullest as well. Accept people’s apologies, even when they are not packaged exactly the way you hoped. Forgive. Move on. Forgive yourself too. Nobody is perfect, we all make mistakes. Learn from your mistakes and move on instead of dwelling on them. Life is simply too short.
9. Develop Healthy Relationships. A basic need we all have as human beings is to have someone who loves and cares for us. Choose your friends very carefully. If yourfriends are treating you badly, have a bad influence on you or just constantly stress you out, then please, pray for and work towards finding friends that will have a good influence on you and also care about you. And make sure you are being a good friendtoo! You may need to look elsewhere and go out of your comfort zone to meet new people.  One great way to meet people is by getting involved in activities that reflect who you are. Ensure any relationship you are involved in – family, romantic or otherwise, is a healthy one.
10. Stay In Touch With Family & Friends, & Have The Right Priorities. God is our number one friend. Don’t forget to keep in regular contact with him just like you would an earthly friend. The more you grow in your relationship with God, the more you’ll discover what an awesome friend he is. If you are married, your spouse should be your best friend (after God). If your spouse is not your best friend, take the time to pray and work on making that the case. Surround yourself with people who are positive, beneficial, encouraging, inspiring, motivating and helpful. Our friends should however not just make us feel good – We also need friends that will lovingly tell us the truth to help us become better people when there is a need to (even when it hurts), not friends that will instead criticize us behind our back. Maintain your relationships by keeping in touch, making an effort and regularly spending and enjoying time with your loved ones. Rejoice and celebrate with each other. Support each other through tough or rough times. Be ever thankful for the friendship, companionship and love you share. Keep in touch, and don’t forget to always show the people in your life that you care about them.
11. Explore, Go Out, Read, Sing , Dance…Have FUN!- Take the time to do things that you know will lift your spirits. Sing & Dance as often and as much as you possibly can.  Put on some of your favorite uplifting music, something you know will get you in the mood to dance and sing – whether on or off key:). . Go out and have some fun with friends or/and family. Indulge in simple pleasures regularly, for instance try to make time to curl up and watch or read something that will make you smile or laugh from time to time. You can read uplifting verses from the Bible. Read a really nice novel while munching on some yummy snacks. Enjoy life, rejoice, and be glad!
12. Relax, & SLEEP!. Seriously. Lighten up and try your best to avoid things that bring you stress, as stress can cause many mental, physical and spiritual problems. Take practical steps towards improving the things you can change and don’t brood over things you can’t control. Set aside time each day to simply relax and not have to worry about anything. Take Vacations. Regularly take the time to relax with your loved ones too. And I cannot over emphasize the importance of getting enough rest! Make sure you get enough sleep and rest regularly. Rest your body, and rest your mind. Wake up refreshed and ready to face (and enjoy) another new day, by God’s grace.

7 Tips for Better Family Communication

1. Create opportunities for talking. It’s no secret that Americans are overworked, overcommitted and overscheduled. Parents rush home from work to to take them to soccer practice, piano lessons and Girl Scout meetings, all before hitting the drive-through window to pick up fast food for dinner. Mix in kids who’d rather text their friends than chat with Mom or Dad, and we have a family communication crisis.

So what can you do? Make time for talking by reducing the number of activities your family is involved in each week − the time it frees up for communication will be invaluable. And if you do find yourself in the car running from place to place, make a point to turn off the radio, the cell phones and the personal game players, and use that opportunity to catch up on the day’s activities.

2. Insist on family meals. In addition to bringing everyone together for a wrap-up of the day’s activities, insisting on a few standing family meals creates ritual and routine that kids come to expect and look forward to. Use the family dinner table as an opportunity to share what’s going on in family members’ lives.

3. Go on individual dates with your children.
Spending time with each of your children lets them know that they matter and aren’t getting lost in the hubbub of a busy day or large family. Older teens might enjoy going out for a hamburger or a latte at their favorite coffee place. Younger children often enjoy going to the supermarket, especially when you let them select their favorite cereal or special dessert. Don’t forget your spouse or the older family members who live near you. Regular date nights for couples and lunches with aging parents keeps those relationships healthy, as well.

4. Remember the 80/20 rule. When trying to improve any relationship, listening is far more important than talking, so when it comes to family communication, listen four times longer than you speak. Likewise, think twice about what you say before you say it. Sometimes a parent’s first reaction is to rant and scream, especially to negative news. Do your best to avoid this, and if you do verbally explode before your child is finished, apologize quickly and assure him or her that you’re now ready to listen.

5. Use technology to your advantage. If the family computer’s been relegated to homework duties or surfing the Web, why not put it to work by creating a family newsletter that you publish monthly, just for your immediate family? Ask everyone in the family to contribute "articles" and information about themselves, then print out a copy for each person and hand deliver it.
6. Create family traditions. Tucking the kids into bed at night, setting up a family movie night, attending religious services or creating special holiday treats are all examples of family traditions. Family members come to expect and appreciate these traditions, seeing them as opportunities to come together as a unit. If your family is short on traditions, there’s no reason you can’t start some now. Why not set up a bowling night once a month? Or grow a family garden? Or visit the same spot every year for summer vacation?

7. Maintaining positive family communications.
This benefits your family in so many ways. Children feel comfortable sharing their problems with parents, reducing the risk of peers having an undue influence on their lives. Parents remain connected and intimate with each other and their children, strengthening the family bonds. And all family members develop effective communication styles that can improve the quality of their relationships beyond the family home. Why not start talking today?

Parenting: 5 Ways to Stop Disrespect and Encourage Respect

1. Stay Calm when your Johnny is insolent
Let's say your thirteen-year-old Johnny is changing from an easy-going child to becoming a rude teen when you ask him to clean up his mess in the kitchen. "Why don't you do it?" he sneers. "It's your kitchen."
Avoid getting swallowed alive in an argument. If you do, you may drown in your own sea of disrespectful words, regret your behavior, and end up feeling guilty
Remember, many kids will go to any lengths to argue their case. Be philosophical. Separate yourself from the problem. See insolence as your child's problem, not yours. But how can you separate from your child's behavior?
It would be easier to yell, "Stop being so rude! What's the matter with you?"
Hold your tongue.
Ask yourself, "How can I stay in control of my emotions, think clearly, and have an outcome that is good for both of us?" When you have that answer, you'll be closer to solving the problem.
2. Use Silence and Give Yourself Time to Deal with the Disrespect.
You might say something like, "Johnny, stop!" Please talk to me in a respectful way." If you do, speak with calm authority. Use your serious parenting look. Then be silent and wait for Johnny to speak to you with civility.
In most situations, you don't need to react right away. Say, "I need time to think. I'll let you know when I'm ready to talk with you."
Silence can be a powerful way to start handling problems because it keeps your child wondering what you're going to do. Silence also helps you collect your thoughts, decide what to say next, and how to say it. Now that you've collected your thoughts, what could you say to Johnny?
3. Speak to Your Child with Authority and Be Brief.
Avoid showering your child with lots of reasons why Johnny is wrong and you are right. Sooner or later he'll figure out how to twist one of your minor points against you. Your best ideas will be lost. Pick out one or two ideas that say exactly what you want to say. Keep it short.
"Johnny when you insult me with your tone, I feel angry. If you continue to speak to me with disrespect, I won't take you and your friends to the movies this Saturday."
The consequences could be anything you know Johnny wants like his favorite TV shows, computer time, video games, or something else. It's important to be consistent and follow through with your consequences. If you say it, you must do it. Following through with penalties builds character. Otherwise, Johnny will know your backbone is just a wishbone.
4. Don't Expect a Happy Ending to Every Problem.
Sometimes your child will need to experience your backbone several times before realizing you mean what you say. If Johnny has been acting disrespectfully for a long time, it will take many experiences to correct his behavior.
5. Encourage Respect by Complimenting It.
Develop the mind-set of noticing Johnny's respectful tones and words. Even tweens and teens like to be appreciated for their efforts. Here are some examples:
. "Johnny, I like how nicely you spoke to me in front of your friends."
. "Johnny, I noticed how your brother smiled when you congratulated him on his grades."
. "Thanks for cleaning the kitchen so cheerfully."
Don't miss any opportunity to praise him. Be honest, specific, and completely positive. After thinking and speaking with calm authority, praise is the best way to turn him around.
Conclusions for Stopping Disrespect and Encouraging Respect
Strengthen your backbone with calm clear thinking. Make good use of silence. Pick only one or two points to make clear. When you're ready to speak, keep it brief. Give consequences and follow through. Compliment your child's good behavior whenever you see it. If you do, you'll be building character and getting the esteem you deserve

Good News, There Is A Solution to My Life!

The #1 Time-waster
What do you suppose America’s number one time waster is?  Email?  Watching TV? Surfing the net?  If you guessed watching television, you’re right.  According to the 2010 Bureau of Labor Statistics American Time Use Survey, the average adult spends 2 hours, 43 minutes a day watching TV.  While people were more likely to watch TV on the weekends, they still racked up 2 hours, 31 minutes daily during the work  week.  The only other things people spent more time on were working and sleeping.
A common complaint I hear from people is that there’s never enough time to do the things they want to do.  If you’re looking for a quick fix for time issues, take an honest look at your leisure time and see if television is eating up a large portion of it.  You might even record the amount of time you spend watching TV in a week.  You may be surprised by how much time you spend.  There’s nothing wrong with relaxing at the end of the day in front of the TV, but perhaps you could spend that time on more important activities – like taking a walk with your spouse, reading to your child, or catching up with a friend on the phone.  For a culture that talks so much about valuing relationships, it’s surprising that we spend almost three times as much time watching television than we do socializing with people.  Try cutting out just an hour a day from watching TV, and replace it with something of value.  Notice how it affects your mood and stress levels.  You might just find that you have more time than you thought!

Conquer the Clutter
You’ve probably heard that a cluttered work space is the sign of a creative mind.  Not so!  It’s the sign of a stressed out worker who has too much to do.  Having an organized office can save you hours of time.   A person who works with a messy or cluttered desk spends, on average, 1-1/2 hours per day looking for things or being distracted by things.  The time you spend searching for an important file can be better spent on any number of tasks.
If you want to make the best use of your time, then the first order of business is to organize and simplify your work space.  As my colleague, Christine, a professional organizer, says, you must be ruthless in clearing the clutter.  When you have a clean and orderly work space, you’ll be glad you were.  These tips will help you get started conquering the clutter.
  • Make as much open space as you can on your desk top.
  • Keep your work tools (stapler, paper clips, etc.) handy where you can easily access them.
  • Purchase accordion or hanging file folders.
  • Set up the most efficient filing system for your needs (with files alphabetized).
  • Touch a piece of paper only one time.  File it or toss it instead of creating another pile of items to deal with later.
  • Clean out your file cabinets.  Toss files that you haven’t used in a year or longer.
  • Purge your phone books, catalogs and reference books if the information can be found elsewhere (such as online).
  • Buy a shredder for purging documents with sensitive information.
Having a clean and orderly work space with a clear-cut filing system will help you become more productive.  A neat work area will not only save you time looking for things, but also provide a sense of peace and calm.

The Problem with Multi-tasking
Does this sound familiar?  You dial a phone number.  While the phone is ringing, you read an email message.  Then when someone answers the phone, you haven’t got a clue as to who you called!  How about this?  What do you do during a teleconference call?  Are you intently listening to the caller, or are you checking stock prices on your computer?  If you’re like most professionals, you’re probably multi-tasking.  With so much to do, it’s tempting to try to do multiple things at once.
Professionals use multi-tasking as a way to get more done.  They believe it increases their productivity and efficiency.  But does it really?  This may surprise you, but there’s no such thing as multi-tasking.  The brain cannot focus on more than one thing at a time.  In reality, it’s actually switching back and forth very quickly between tasks.
Recent studies show that multi-tasking, in fact, reduces productivity.  That’s because people lose time when they switch back-and-forth from one task to another.  Each time you’re interrupted, it takes time to switch gears and get back your train of thought.  For example, you’re working on a report, the phone rings and you answer it.  When you hang up, you return to your report, and ask yourself, “Where was I?”, and then collect your thoughts.
When you multi-task, not only does it take longer, but you’re not as effective.  Think about it.  If you’re reading an email while trying to listen to someone speak, are you really hearing them?  No!  You’re only hearing about half of what they’ve said.  Then that leads to miscommunication, which can cause further issues.
Don’t fool yourself into thinking you’re more productive when you multi-task.  If you really want to be productive, focus on one task at a time, complete it, and then move on to the next task.

When You’re Overloaded at Work
Do you have more to do on the job than you can possibly get done?  Is your heavy workload causing you to feel stressed, overwhelmed and exhausted?  If you don’t address the issue, then your long work hours can lead to burnout.  Burnout can be detrimental to your job and your physical and emotional health.
If you find that your workload has increased beyond your capacity, then it’s time to meet with your boss to address the issue.  Here are key points to cover in your meeting.
  • Assure your Boss of your Commitment to Work – Explain to your boss that your work is important.  You’re feeling overloaded with work, and you want to continue to be productive and perform at a high level rather than burn out.
  • Clarify Job Expectations and Priorities – The first step is to make sure you’re clear on your job expectations and priorities.  Make a list of your most important work projects.  Review this list with your manager, and together prioritize your work priorities.  You’ll need to focus most of your time and attention on these priorities.
  • Cut out any Non-Value-Added Activities – Review your job description.  Make a note of any tasks you perform that are not part of your job description.  Your boss may not even be aware of the extra duties you’ve been saddled with.  Then determine if there are any tasks that can be eliminated.  Maybe you’re expected to write a weekly report, but you know that no one ever reads the report.  If it’s not adding value, then get rid of it.
If, after implementing these changes, you find that your workload still requires countless hours a week to complete, then schedule another meeting with your manager to explore other options, such as hiring an assistant or intern, or balancing the workload by assigning it to someone else.
By addressing your heavy workload, you’ll be able to meet your work commitments and deadlines without burning out!

Favorite Time Management Quotes
There’s never enough time!  That’s a common complaint I hear from my coaching clients.  They tell me there’s never enough time to do all the things they want to do.  Time management is critical to our success.  But how do you manage time?  Well actually, that’s a misnomer.  You cannot manage time.  But you can manage yourself and how you spend your time.
Sometimes all we need is a little perspective.  Here are some of my favorite quotes on time management.  Hopefully, they’ll give you some perspective.  Pick out a favorite quote and review it often to remind yourself of its truth.
“Don’t say you don’t have enough time.  You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.”                                             – H. Jackson Brown
“Until you value yourself, you will not value your time.  Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it.”                                   – M. Scott Peck
“It’s how we spend our time here and now, that really matters.  If you are fed up with the way you have come to interact with time, change it.”              – Marcia Wieder
“A wise person does at once, what a fool does at last.  Both do the same thing; only at different times.”                                 – Baltasar Gracian
“The bad news is time flies.  The good news is you’re the pilot.”       – Michael Altshuler

Can You Really Find Balance ? Helpful Tips

Sometimes I wonder if this balance thing is really obtainable. I keep adding more to my to do list and find myself looking for windows of time to get something done. There are never enough windows of time to get it all done, so I’ve come up with three things that can help when you feel really overwhelmed.
1. Stop and think
What is MOST important to you at this time? What is the absolute priority? Maybe the laundry can wait one more day, but driving to the grocery store to get dog food can’t.
2. Make time for you
Everyone always says, be sure to leave time for you. HA! That seems like such a joke sometimes. I barely have time for my family, let alone carving out time for me, but this is what I’ve done — I have started going to lunch, alone. I used to go out with coworkers or meet a friend, but these days I have too much to do and need that lunch time to do some work. It’s not exactly me time, but it’s time that helps me later on.
3. Ask for help
Sometimes you just can’t do it all. Look at the areas of your life where you can ask for help. Do you need to ask a friend or neighbor to watch the kids for you so that you can get to a meeting, or get something done around the house? Maybe you need them to watch the kids so you can take a nap and regroup. If you never ask, the answer will always be, “no.”

Effective Goal Setting for Busy Mums

Have you ever been frustrated with goal setting? As a busy mom, some days we can barely get through our daily to-do list. Who has time for long-term goals? There is a way to set goals that work and you too can learn how!

Amidst all the family activities, I have found a way to set goals that works.
Every August for many years, I have attended a fantastic personal growth seminar called Mastermind Summit. Although top-notch speakers like Zig Ziglar and Jim Rohn have been highlights, it's the goal setting session that has impacted me the most. Now that I'm a busy mom with two young children, goal setting is very centering. It helps me see what's really important to accomplish and what can be abandoned if necessary.
Here's how you can create effective goals for the year ahead, no matter how busy you are:
1. Plan a goal setting time every year.
Maybe you want to set goals in December for the New Year. Or you can set them in August to correlate with the school year and get your kids to set goals with you. The important thing is to establish a regular ritual of goal setting that you won't forget. Maybe you want to plan a weekend getaway on your anniversary and make sure that one hour of that weekend is committed to goal setting. Create a fun ritual that you and your family will look forward to. Be sure to celebrate past accomplishments every year with your family.
2. Set goals in five areas of life.
The five areas are: personal, spiritual, business, financial and family. Following are a few examples that worked for me to help you brainstorm:
Personal - to lose 10 pounds, to exercise at the gym twice a week, to learn how to play the guitar.
Spiritual - to read through the Bible in a year, to attend a spiritual retreat.
Business - to increase sales by 10%, to find a freelance job for 5 hours a week.
Financial - to save $2000, to make a budget for Christmas gifts.
Family - to take a vacation to Hawaii, to help my child learn the 50 states.
3. Make sure your goals are specific.
For instance, don't make a goal to "exercise more." Instead say "I am going to exercise twice a week." Now you have a measurable goal. You will know whether or not you accomplished it.
Even as busy moms, we can set goals that move our dreams forward. Effective goal setting starts with keeping it simple and specific. Keep growing alongside your children by setting personal goals for yourself and reaching them!

Top 4 Hair Trends For Fall - What to Avoid

Hair Trends For Fall 2012

THE TOP 4 HAIR TRENDS FOR FALL (AND WHAT TO AVOID)

In the immortal words of Peter Brady and siblings, "When it's time to change you've got to rearrange." The squeaky-voiced teen may have been talking more about the awkward years than the weather, but for beauty intents and purposes, the autumnal transition is a big one. See how you can switch up your hairstyle, all while remaining right on trend with the top looks for Fall 2012, when you read more.
1. Color: With ombré-tones, rainbow streaks, feathers, and the like dominating color trends for several seasons now, Alberto VO5 hair expert Chris Lospalluto sees color going in a more toned-down direction. "People want to be polished and clean with a little bit of a solid natural color and maybe pops of little highlights, but the allover highlight and ombré we're seeing go away," he says.
2. Length: While midlength styles will remain popular, Lospalluto predicts the return of longer lengths. "Superlong I don't know, but I think people are growing out their short hair a little bit."
3. Texture: Stick-straight strands may have had their day in the sun, but don't expect this flat, notoriously fussy texture to come back. Says Lospalluto, "People just want to look pretty, natural, and chic: not a lot of product, not a lot of styling."
4. Topknots, Braids, and Beyond: Speaking of styling, the topknot is here to stay. "It's so effortless, it always looks really cool, and it doesn't have that ballerina feel," says Lospalluto. As for the ubiquitous braid, he recommends simple variations, like a loose fishtail or prairie style. Avoid making your plaits tight and small, though, which reads prim and proper. Extra credit: loosely wrap a braid into a chignon or topknot.
And What to Avoid . . . Undercuts, metal hair, ultraangled silhouettes, and The Rachel (basically anything that dominated fashion editorials and America's malls during the '80s and '90s) look dated for a reason. Linda Evangelista's sophisticated '90s bob, however, is a style that still looks cool and chic to this day.

3 Easy Home Exercises For Women

Here are a few TOP LEVEL home exercises for women that get great results and are EASY. If you need to find a way to save money, yet still get good workouts in, this may be a good alternative to replace having a gym membership. You save membership fees, gas money, and TIME! This frees you up to have a higher quality of life with your family and friends.

Easy Home Exercises for Women
1. Jumping jacks
This is an oldie, but a goodie... or is it "goody". Listen, this is very effective. You don't need an elliptical, stationary bike, treadmill, or stairstepper to get a good workout for your whole body.
Just try this. The next time tv commercials come on while you're watching tv, get up and do jumping jacks until the tv show comes back on. That'll be about 2 minutes. Now imagine if you did that 10 more times here and there at your leisure throughout the day and night. That's an easy 20 minutes of cardio done without costing you a penny and without messing up your free time with friends and family.
You're multi-tasking... watching tv and exercising.
2. Mini-trampoline jumping
This is the best at-home exercise in my opinion. It's awesome for toning and it's considered the best exercise for reducing cellulite in your legs and butt.
Again, just do the 2 minute commercial technique that was talked about above. Easy as can be.
3. Wall squats
Get your back to a wall. Make sure your back is firmly against the wall. Now begin squatting while sliding you back down the wall. This is a nice alternative to barbell squats you do in the gym. How many sets you do and how many reps depends on your fitness levels, but definitely shoot for a good 4 sets of 10 reps 2-3 days a week.
These easy home exercises for women will help free your time and money while getting you in great shape rather quickly.

Cheap Homemade Health and Beauty Products

Most people assume that the best health and beauty products should rightly come with a hefty price tag. However, that is not always true. Sure, some of the world-renowned cosmetic giants supply excellent quality cosmetic products at sometimes exorbitant prices. However, there are other health and beauty products that are just as effective but less costly. Believe it or not, some of the best beauty and body care products can be found in your kitchen such as fruit, honey, oil, baking soda, sugar, and aloe vera.
Health and Beauty Products For the Skin
One perfect example of natural health and beauty products for your skin is honey. For thousands of years, honey has been used by a lot of women as skin cleanser and moisturizer, especially when mixed with milk. Add a spoonful of honey into half a cup of cold milk then use a cotton ball to apply the mixture to your face, neck, and even arms. Leave it to dry on your face for two minutes, reapply, then rinse it off.
Mixing lemon juice or olive oil with honey will also make a great skin toner that will leave your face well-moisturized and glowing.
One of the best health and beauty products that help dry out pimples on your face is a mixture of water and baking soda, forming a paste that can be directly applied on your pimple. To reduce the appearance of unsightly blemishes on your face, apply toothpaste on it overnight. You'll be amazed to find out that the blemish has disappeared in just a matter of days. Grinding rice then mixing it with water form a paste that can be generously applied on your face and neck as a homemade facial scrub.
Health and Beauty Products For Your Hair
Your shampoo can contain strong chemicals that can cause dandruff, which can be easily removed by applying lemon juice to your scalp. As an alternative, you can also mix water with cider vinegar then apply it on your hair and scalp.
For silky, smooth hair, make a mixture of Henna and egg yolk and apply it on your hair on a regular basis. Other health and beauty products that are proven great for you hair are fenugreek seeds and aloe vera. To maximize the value of commercialized shampoo, mix it with little amount of baking soda to get rid of hair-product buildup.
Since you will be applying only natural products on your face and body, the possibility of developing skin irritations is greatly reduced.

Eight Tips For Healthy Eating

Eating a healthy, balanced diet is an important part of maintaining good health, and can help you feel your best. It can be simple, too. Just follow these eight tips to get started.
Base your meals on starchy foodsThese practical tips cover the basics of healthy eating, and can help you make healthier choices:
  1. Starchy foods include potatoes, cereals, pasta, rice and bread. Choose wholegrain varieties when you can: they contain more fibre, and can make you feel full for longer. Starchy foods should make up around one third of the foods you eat.
Most of us should eat more starchy foods: try to include at least one starchy food with each main meal. Some people think starchy foods are fattening, but gram for gram they contain fewer than half the calories of fat. Learn more in Starchy foods.
  2. Eat lots of fruit and vegIt’s recommended that we eat at least five portions of different types of fruit and veg a day. It’s easier than it sounds. A glass of 100% unsweetened fruit juice can count as one portion, and vegetables cooked into dishes also count. Why not chop a banana over your breakfast cereal, or swap your usual mid-morning snack for some dried fruit? Learn more in 5 A DAY.
  3. Eat more fishFish is a good source of protein and contains many vitamins and minerals. Aim for at least two portions a week, including at least one portion of oily fish. Oily fish is high in omega-3 fats, which may help to prevent heart disease. You can choose from fresh, frozen and canned; but remember that canned and smoked fish can be high in salt. Oily fish include salmon, mackerel, trout, herring, fresh tuna, sardines and pilchards. Non-oily fish include haddock, plaice, coley, cod, tinned tuna, skate and hake. Anyone who regularly eats a lot of fish should try to choose as wide a variety as possible.
  4. Cut down on saturated fat and sugarWe all need some fat in our diet. But it’s important to pay attention to the amount and type of fat we’re eating. There are two main types of fat: saturated and unsaturated. Too much saturated fat can increase the amount of cholesterol in the blood, which increases your risk of developing heart disease. Saturated fat is found in many foods, such as hard cheese, cakes, biscuits, sausages, cream, butter, lard and pies. Try to cut down, and choose foods that contain unsaturated rather than saturated fats, such as vegetable oils, oily fish and avocados. For a healthier choice, use a just a small amount of vegetable oil or reduced fat spread instead of butter, lard or ghee. When you're having meat, choose lean cuts and cut off any visible fat. Learn more, and get tips on cutting down, inEat less saturated fat.

Most people in the UK eat and drink too much sugar. Sugary foods and drinks, including alcoholic drinks, are often high in calories, and could contribute to weight gain. They can also cause tooth decay, especially if eaten between meals. Cut down on sugary fizzy drinks, alcoholic drinks, cakes, biscuits and pastries, which contain added sugars: this is the kind of sugar we should be cutting down on rather than sugars that are found naturally in foods such as fruit and milk. Food labels can help: use them to check how much sugar foods contain. More than 15g of sugar per 100g means that the food is high in sugar. Learn more in Sugars.
  5. Eat less salt
Even if you don’t add salt to your food, you may still be eating too much. About three-quarters of the salt we eat is already in the food we buy, such as breakfast cereals, soups, breads and sauces. Eating too much salt can raise your blood pressure. People with high blood pressure are more likely to develop heart disease or have a stroke. Use food labels to help you cut down. More than 1.5g of salt per 100g means the food is high in salt. Adults and children over 11 should eat no more than 6g of salt a day. Younger children should have even less. Learn more in Salt: the facts.
  6. Get active and be a healthy weightEating a healthy, balanced diet plays an important part in maintaining a healthy weight, which is an important part of overall good health. Being overweight or obese can led to health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, heart disease and stroke. Being underweight could also affect your health. Check whether you’re a healthy weight by using our Healthy weight calculator. Most adults need to lose weight, and need to eat fewer calories in order to do this. If you're trying to lose weight, aim to eat less and be more active. Eating a healthy, balanced diet will help: aim to cut down on foods that are high in fat and sugar, and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. Don't forget that alcohol is also high in calories, so cutting down can help you to control your weight. You can find information and advice to help inLose weight. If you’re underweight, see Underweight adults. If you're worried about your weight, ask your GP or a dietitian for advice.

Physical activity can help you to maintain weight loss or be a healthy weight. Being active doesn’t have to mean hours at the gym: you can find ways to fit more activity into your daily life. For example, try getting off the bus one stop early on the way home from work, and walking. Being physically active may help reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes. For more ideas, seeGet active your way. After getting active, remember not to reward yourself with a treat that is high in calories. If you feel hungry after activity choose foods or drinks that are lower in calories but still filling.
  7. Don't get thirstyWe need to drink about 1.2 litres of fluid every day to stop us getting dehydrated. This is in addition to the fluid we get from the food we eat. All non-alcoholic drinks count, but water, milk and fruit juices are the most healthy. Try to avoid sugary soft and fizzy drinks that are high in added sugars and can be high in calories and bad for teeth. When the weather is warm, or when we get active, we may need more. Learn more in Drinks.
  8. Don’t skip breakfast
Some people skip breakfast because they think it will help them lose weight. In fact, research shows that eating breakfast can help people control their weight. A healthy breakfast is an important part of a balanced diet, and provides some of the vitamins and minerals we need for good health. Wholemeal cereal, with fruit sliced over the top is a tasty and nutritious breakfast
